Yesterday afternoon I receive a text from my husband that says...and I quote..."Man, her poop bags are getting stinkier!" :)
Not only was I dying laughing because it is so true, its rough y'all. I was picturing the times I have seen him take the bags out of the diaper pail, as he is gagging through the process and desperately reaching for the Lysol for some momentary relief.
But what this text really said to me had to do with so much more than poo. Ha! Its one of the many snapshots of an amazing dad and hard working husband. Jamey loves his Rosie girl more than life itself. He's never once made me feel like I was alone in this parenting gig. Do we have our tough moments working through our schedules of who is coming home when and whose doing what? Sure. But Jamey is all in y'all and I could not be more grateful. He is one of the hardest workers I know. We always joke about how I am jealous of his sleeping abilities. This man can be mid-sentence and fall asleep. I could put on a timer from when he turns off the lights and starts snoring and it has to be 30-45 seconds, no exaggeration. In mere seconds he can fall asleep, its actually quite amazing, as I lay there trying to turn my brain off the next hour. All the melatonin and essentials oils in the world can not make me fall asleep as quickly as my husband.
But now I understand why. Jamey lays his head on his pillow each night, exhausted from giving everything his ALL. His company that he is building from scratch, his wife, his home, his baby girl who he loves, chases, plays with, reads books to and kisses until the sun goes down. This man is appropriately tired from being ALL in, ALL the time. He's an example of everything I could ever hope Rosie to marry one day. He works full time and so do I which makes for an interesting dynamic. But he supports me and my dreams and has never asked me to lay those down, but instead has shaped his life and time around them, so that they too, can be realized. He is my equal partner in crime and has been proving that to be true over the last 10 years.
This Father's Day was extra special because in a day and age when the thing we feel like we can't get back is TIME; I find Jamey thinking of new ways to create margin and time for his family, despite all the busyness and distractions around him. It made sense that Rosie and I would give him a watch. True Story: Earlier this year when we were getting ice cream, the cashier told Jamey he liked his cool wooden watch and asked where he got it. Before he finished asking, Jamey took the watch off his wrist and gave it to the guy.
Yet another snap shot of the type of man I married.
